American Filter Grids

American Filter Grids

There are two basic designs of Curved Verticle Grids. The slotted collar type used by Pac Fab, American, Hayward, and Sta-Rite, and the notched collar style used in Purex. The good news is all four slotted grids, i.e. Pac Fab, American, Hayward, and Sta-Rite, are interchangeable (assuming full size grids are replaced with full size and small grids with smalls).

The internal grid system consists of parallel flat grids covered by woven polypropylene which is stitched onto the rectangular grid structure. The grids have metering slots to evenly distribute water flow across the top of each grid for uniform and complete backwashing of the grids. The individual grids are secured to a top manifold which connects to the outlet port of the filter tank and an O-ring seal to the outlet bulkhead fitting, which shall allow removal of the entire grid assembly for manual cleaning or servicing. There is a minimum of spacing between grids for complete backwashing and minimizing of bridging of D.E. between grids.

Full Grid Sets: American, Hayward, Pac-Fab

Full Grid Sets: American, Hayward, Pac-Fab

Complete Grid Sets include all individual grids to replace your old worn out grids for American, Hayward and Pentair Pac Fab products. Also available are Complete Grid Assemblies which include the previous but also the top and bottom plates, already assembled for easy replacement. Just open the tank, pull out the old and pop in the new, what could be easier.

Diatomaceous earth is a porous powder with microscopic openings that when magnified look like tiny sponges. Clear water can pass through these openings, but particles, as small as two to five microns, are trapped during the first pass through the media. D.E. filters have internal elements that become coated with D.E. It is this 'filter cake' that strains dirt, dust and algae from the water. Similar to sand filters, when D.E. filters become dirty, they are cleaned either by backwashing, or regenerating and draining the clogged D.E. to the 'waste' line. To restore filtration, a fresh charge of D.E. is added to the filter. For sparkling, clean pools; step up to Hayward.

Pentair (Purex) Filter Grids

Pentair (Purex) Filter Grids

Filtering with diatomaceous earth (D.E.) gives you water that really sparkles. That’s because D.E. filters remove the tiniest of contaminants…particles as small as 5 microns. (An average grain of sand is 1000 microns!) Even though these particles can’t be seen individually, collectively they greatly affect water clarity. Here’s why diatomaceous earth filters work so well. Water passes through a series of D.E. coated grids. Under a microscope, D.E. looks like a collection of tiny sponges. And just like a sponge, water can pass through, but microscopic impurities like dirt, algae, and some forms of bacteria can’t. D.E. filters have been designed with curved grids to maximize filtration area. More filter area means better performance and longer periods between cleanings. Our exclusive internal design has been refined to minimize flow restrictions, and therefore requires minimal pumping power to achieve a needed flow rate. That means lower utility costs. So you can count on it to keep your pool water clean and crystal clear for years to come.

Sta-Rite Filter Grids

Sta-Rite Filter Grids

Sta-Rite's modular media filtration is the perfect match for the aboveground pools. Advances in media technology and balanced flow design provide dirt-loading capabilities up to 15 times greater than sand filters of equivalent size. Virtually maintenance-free operation for today's pool owner. The small diameter footprint makes the Sta-Rite filter a perfect fit for new and retrofit installations. The interchangeable ports provide multiple plumbing options. Modular Filter Tanks allow for quick change of filter media without changing the tank. Contemporary style and matte black finish looks attractive in any pool setting. To enjoy the clearest, cleanest water in your pool, install Sta-Rite D.E. pool filter, the latest advance in diatomaceous earth (D.E.) filtration. Diatomaceous earth, a natural substance, is so fine it traps dirt and debris as small as five microns (1⁄10 the width of a human hair). That means body oils, suntan lotions, pollens, dust and even some bacteria are trapped in the filter, leaving behind sparkling clear, healthier water.
